Friday afternoon, ready for the first ride Thom heading up onto the moors Selworthy Beacon Mind the edge If you get wet, you've gone too far down A combe with a view (sorry!) Minehead beach 2 hours riding done, must be pub time! We're all friends here Saturday morning, climbing up above Minehead Halfway, 2½ miles, all up And up... ...and up... ...and up... Guess which way the wind was blowing Just as we got to the top, it started sleeting. We go that way. Now. Going down wasn't any easier Dean on the rocky descent A very green bridge in Hawkcombe Pubbage in Porlock We go up here, then, we go up there Wet feet? No thanks A quick rest, but we were beaten to the bench Climbing Bossington Hill in sideways hail Max and the rainbow Back at the hostel, Dean provided beer and Allan provided cake. Proper post-ride sustenance. Later that night at the un-gentlemens club Beer-and-cheese evening anyone? Sunday mornings bootwash Or for those of a more delicate disposition... Mid-stream bike duelling Then it rained. Lots Fortunately the Landlord at Luxborough took pity and let us in early At last, the sun shines, and James' brake pads give up with 2 miles to go! Sadly we didnt manage to get to Cwm Carn in the afternoon as planned, but 2 climbs up Whites Level and the additional Skyline descent gave a good days riding. ]]> Fri Jun 20 2008 Big Night Out http://newforce.fotopic.net/c1521777.html Direct from the Ministry of Stupid Ideas, a plan was hatched to depart from the Happy Cheese at Ashurst one evening, ride to the ferry at Lymington, do the Seven Hills end-to-end of the Isle of Wight overnight, get a kebab, and then ride back in time for the first ferry in the morning. So we did. Sunday 1 June 2008: Direct from the Ministry of Stupid Ideas, a plan was hatched to depart from the Happy Cheese at Ashurst one evening, ride to the ferry at Lymington, do the Seven Hills end-to-end of the Isle of Wight overnight, get a kebab, and then ride back in time for the first ferry in the morning. So we did.

Meeting at the Happy Cheese for a little pre-start lubrication Time for another drink on the ferry, then we are off! The first big hill Darkness descends over Compton Down Watching the last of the daylight disappear Dropping into the dark off Chillerton Down Island pixies come out to play Refreshment at the Chequers PH, Rookly Strange lights in the night Re-fuelled by Lake Kebabs who stayed open late especially for us Crashed out on Shanklin Cliffs Sign of a good night out! Old tramp Vodka and coke, better without the chilli sauce! The steps that nearly led to Keiths demise, probably somewhere like St Martins Down, but it was all a bit hazy by then Getting light again, at least we could see the rain Back on the ferry The Happy Cheese again!! Sadly no breakfast though.
